Greetings fromfrom beautiful Cincinnati, Ohio, and welcome to the Jazzmania Productions website!
Like a bridge, I excel at connecting people and ideas, especially where I can see it makes a difference. I believe in the power of a story, whether it’s one I’m sharing or one I hear from others. These stories can be about people or events, or they can be the stories that data can tell.
I combine a strategic, behind-the-scenes perspective that allows me to see multiple paths with a deep conviction that learning as we go can itself often be the best path to take. Technology has enabled me to make this happen in a number of ways.
Since 2002 when I launched my first blog, I’ve been spending time in the new media space. In 2005, I discovered podcasting and launched the Journey Inside My Mind podcast. In 2008, I launched a sister project to Get That Job!entitled How I Got My Job, the job hunting success stories podcast.
In 2007 I founded a social media networking community called New Media Cincinnati, and it’s become one of the most active communities of its kind in the Cincinnati area.
What is Jazzmania Productions?
Jazzmania. Back in high school, a fellow band member turned me onto jazz music, and I was hooked. I enjoy all kinds of music, but one thing that has fascinated me about jazz is improvisation. Most jazz songs start off with the main theme, and then members of the band take their solos. If you read the notation for these solos, you won’t see notes to play; you’ll see chords. The structure of the song – the meter and chord progression – remains the same. It’s within these constraints that a soloist can paint a picture of whatever he or she wants to create. Whenever you hear this song played live, it will never be exactly the same.
Productions. Something similar happens with the technology tools we use to tell stories. Each tool, each social media platform, even the community that’s built up around that platform, has its own constraints. From within those constraints, however, we can make magic happen.
